This course provides pharmacists with a systematic approach to the diagnosis and management of anaphylaxis from first principles.
It consists of five modules with narrated teaching, supported by a practical Anaphylaxis Management Form.

The modules begin with the foundations of anaphylaxis, covering what anaphylaxis is, how it is triggered, and the factors that influence its severity.
Pathophysiology (what is going wrong) is examined, including how this translates into the specific signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis.
The diagnosis of anaphylaxis is addressed in a systematic manner, including differentiation from simple allergic reactions and other clinical conditions.
Management follows the ASCIA guidelines and covers the 7-step process, required equipment, and special considerations in children and pregnancy, as well as the management of overwhelming anaphylaxis (anaphylaxis-induced cardiac arrest). A dedicated 30-minute segment addresses challenges specific to pharmacy-based care.
The course concludes with nineteen case studies that bring together the principles of diagnosis and management, demonstrating how they may be applied in real clinical situations.
